Our Purpose

Our child care center was created to provide a safe learning environment that enhances your child's individual physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.

From the moment you pull up to our historic building in New Glarus, WI, you'll feel at home. We are so proud of our building's character and history. Small World was once the village’s movie theater, a roller skating rink, and a small grocery store. As you enter, you'll hear different music each day. We try to expose the children (and Mom & Dad), to the large, diverse music library we have. As you enter further into the building you'll be greeted by everyone. We are like a family, and that is how we will always be. You may see parents chatting in the hall or children standing at the door with a big smile and a wave. It is such an amazing experience when you can start & end your day surrounded by people who truly care about you and your family! It is important to us that we are providing a homelike environment for the children. We have found that, by painting the walls in calm colors that you might use in your home, as well as using as much natural light as we can, children are more peaceful and at ease.

In your child’s classroom, they will feel confident when they walk in! The environment in each classroom is tailored to the needs of the group. The children always suggest where we should put some items, or even entire group centers. When that happens, most of the time they are exactly right.

Expect to see your child's teacher on the floor interacting with your child. The staff at Small World really knows how to play and have fun, however, they are also seasoned professionals. While on the floor interacting with the children, they are observing each child. This documentation is used to plan for each child. This ensures that your child is meeting the benchmarks that they should and allows us to set goals for your child throughout the day. Your child will think he is playing, however, our experienced staff is watching and teaching your child new skills that their teacher has planned out for them.

We enjoy using the outdoors as another classroom. The children grow their own organic garden every year. There are so many teachable moments in the project. They are very proud when the garden starts popping up with raspberries, snap peas, tomatoes, and cucumbers (to name a few). We also love to go to the park and visit different businesses within the village! Everyone loves when we visit.
